Selective Mutism

Whether children are only speaking in selected situations,  ‘selective mutism’, or  are described in milder terms as a ‘reluctant speaker’, this area can be a concern. This may be distressing /uncomfortable,  and less than optimal in creating the best environment for a child’s ongoing linguistic development.

At ESTC we work with parents as a team to sensitively create an individualised intervention plan with achievable steps designed to gradually build your child’s confidence and enjoyment in communication and language. This intervention (assessment and therapy) may take place across a range of environments (i.e. home, clinic, etc) according to your child’s needs as they progress.
